Lone Wolf Media Acquires Vulcan Productions Undersea Library

Our good friends at Vulcan Productions are closing their doors in 2021. They have asked Lone Wolf to become the custodians of their invaluable archive of underwater and topside footage collected onboard RV Petrel and the exploration yacht, Octopus, over the last 2 decades. This work is the result of Paul Allen’s effort and vision for preserving the memory and stories of the sea battles of WW2.

In accepting their generous offer, we have also accepted the responsibility of managing the use of the footage in a manner in which Paul would have approved. It is also the fervent wish by the folks at Vulcan and the crews of Navigea Ltd. that this material be seen by as many people as have interest in the subject or genre. The time, expense, and expertise that went into these expeditions and undersea explorations was not meant to be buried away in an archive but shared with the world. The stories behind each of these ships, aircrafts, battles, and the memories of the men who participated in them, are preserved here in the highest quality available.

The archive consists of thousands of hours of undersea footage and more than 50 shipwrecks, many iconic names such as USS Indianapolis, USS Hornet, IJN Musashi, and HMS Hood. Included are dozens of vessels from the United States Navy, Imperial Japanese Navy, the British and Australian Royal Navies as well. For information about acquiring access to this material for broadcast or non-broadcast use, please contact Mary Soule - msoule@lonewolfmedia.com.
